PLAY THERAPY FOR CHILDREN IN HOLLY SPRINGS, NC

A safe place for your child to
play, connect, heal, and grow.

It is extremely difficult to see your child struggle and not know how to best support them…

You may be a concerned parent who desperately wants to help their child. You may often find yourself wishing to make the hard behaviors “just stop” or to be able to take away your child’s sad and anxious feelings, but nothing has worked and you’re all out of ideas…

As a parent you just want your child to thrive and be successful in life, but you’re worried because your child isn’t yet able to manage their feelings on their own as they become easily angered or consumed with worry…

Your child’s “big feelings” and “big behaviors”, combined with your concern about their future,
seem to be getting in the way of having a fulfilling relationship, where you experience genuine joy and connection with your child.

Life doesn’t have to stay this way.

Andrea Bueno-Acosta, child therapist located in Holly Springs, smiling on the office couch and holding a mug that says "I love Play Therapy".

Hi, I’m Andrea.

I’m so glad you’re here.

I aim to build safe and nurturing relationships to help you and your child through tough times by communicating empathy, acceptance, and understanding. In the playroom, I meet children and their grown-ups where they are each time they walk in!

I specialize in working with young children and parents. Parents are often searching for a therapist who will partner with them so they can better understand their child and their “big feelings” or “big behaviors”. Our partnership can help you and your child feel more connection and delight with one another. My clients walk away from therapy better able to express their emotions, cope with disappointment and hardships, and feel better understood by their parents.

HOW I WORK

I believe therapy should be a safe space.

A young child's hands are placing animal figures in the sandtray, a valuable option often found in a play therapy office or 'playroom'.

I understand you may have questions about this process and whether I am a good fit for you and your child.

  1. Click the button below to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me. Tell me a little about what is bringing you to seek therapy and I’ll share about my services and how I can help.

  2. After our initial parent session, you will bring your child in to join me each week in the playroom for their session. In session, they get to decide what they will play, draw, write, and talk about. Together, we’ll develop the tools you need to best support your child at home when they are having a hard time.

  3. Your child will be better able to understand and communicate their feelings and tolerate change and disappointment. You will expand your parenting toolbox and your confidence will grow as you feel better equipped to support your child and know that you can get through the next meltdown or power struggle without feeling defeated.

Your child doesn’t have to continue feeling powerless to their big feelings.

I can help them (and you) make better sense of these difficult behaviors together.
